Former PawSox Pitcher Makes PCL All-Star Team
Yesterday we learned the four players representing the PawSox in the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 11 in Buffalo (Ryan Lavarnway, Mauro Gomez, Pedro Ciriaco, and Justin Germano). Today the Pacific Coast League All-Star roster was announced and it features a former fan favorite from McCoy.
Tommy Hottovy, now in the Kansas City Royals’ farm system, has been named to the PCL All-Star team for his efforts with the Omaha Storm Chasers. In 20 appearances, he’s gone 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA (26.1 IP/5 ER) and has nailed down all seven save opportunities. He’s had tremendous command as well, walking just six batters while striking out 36.

Hottovy was the Lou Gorman Award winner at this year’s Boston Baseball Writers Dinner. Given for his dedication and perseverance in overcoming career obstacles, the lefty made his Major League debut with Boston on June 3, 2011, a month short of his 30th birthday. (Kelly O’Connor)
Hottovy made his Kansas City debut on April 25 against Cleveland and, in total, has made five appearances with the Royals (he’s currently with Omaha). A former fourth round selection by the Red Sox, Hottovy suited up for the PawSox in 2010 and ’11, making a total of 50 appearances.
