PawSox Roster Moves – July 26, 2012

The big PawSox news of the day revolves around right-handers Brandon Duckworth and Doug Mathis officially signing with Japan. However, the PawSox also have the two following moves just announced before tonight’s game in Indianapolis:

  • Righty Nelson Figueroa has been placed on the Temporary Inactive List. (This happens when a player needs to tend to a personal matter but won’t miss enough time to go on the disabled list.)
  • Catcher Matt Spring has been assigned to the PawSox from Double-A Portland. Spring, 27, has hit .212 with seven home runs and 18 runs batted in over 49 games with the Sea Dogs this year. The former Tampa Bay farmhand was called-up to Pawtucket earlier in the season and made one start behind home plate before returning to Portland.

Spring was drafted in the 4th round of the 2004 draft by Tampa Bay where he made it as high as Double-A Montgomery. He signed as a minore league free agent with the Red Sox on March 13, 2011.

It’s difficult to find experienced people in this particular topic,
however, you sound like you know what you’re talking about!
