Justin Germano Signs with Toronto
One of the PawSox most dominant pitchers from this past season has signed with his third team in less than a year. Justin Germano, Pawtucket’s 2012 Opening Day starter, has signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Germano spent most of 2012 with the PawSox and was the ace of the staff (9-4, 2.40 ERA, 16 starts) before being called-up to Boston. The righty made one start for the Red Sox on July 7 when he held the Yankees scoreless over 5 2/3 innings while striking out seven.

Germano, 29, went 2-10 with a 6.75 ERA with the Cubs in 2012. Over seven Major League seasons Germano has a 5.27 ERA. (Kelly O’Connor)
After his lone start at Fenway, Germano was designated for assignment and then sent to the Cubs for cold hard cash. Justin went on to make 13 appearances (12 starts) for Chicago — his most starts since making 23 with San Diego in 2007.
Germano, who has received an invitation to big league camp, has a chance to pitch against his former Pawtucket teammates since Toronto’s new Triple-A affiliate is the Buffalo Bisons.
As I once said to Justin, the only thing more impressive than his swing-and-miss curveball is the fact that he can keep a perfectly groomed five o’clock shadow seven days a week (see photo above).
All the best to Justin in Toronto.
